This workshop focuses on the minimum standards for the rights of the accused. It discusses criminal justice issues related to women and juveniles, as well as regional and international instruments for their protection. It also focuses on the role of public prosecution and specialized agencies in the protection of individuals during criminal proceedings.

The G&C initiative offers research on women's citizenship in selected Arab countries and raises public and media awareness about the scale and implications of gender inequalities inherent in key legislation and discussed in the Arab Human Development Report of 2002. The initiative is to build the capacity of Arab women's NGOs in networking and advocacy to lobby for policy changes and to develop partnerships between women's NGOs and parliamentarians.
